as it requires much less resources to grow and process. LILLY PILLY's European linen comes with EUROPEAN FLAX™ certification which guarantees it's quality, provides traceability, and ensures its been produced in a sustainable way.

Chemical Free Processing

One environmental concern regarding Linen is the chemicals used during the retting and grinding process.

The separation of the fibre from the woody materials was once done manually, however today we use different organic compounds like Alkali and Oxalic that help accelerate the process.

No Pesticides

Linen can be grown without water, pesticides and chemicals however this does not exclude the fact that some people may use them.

The EUROPEAN FLAX™ certified linen we use is guaranteed to have come from a pesticide-free growing process.

Non-toxic dyes are used for colouring our linen

Non-toxic Dyes

Linen already has some natural colour and does not necessarily need to be dyed. However, when producing vibrant and strong colours the EUROPEAN FLAX™ certification ensures the dyes used were not toxic for the environment or for your health.

Human Rights

The textile fibres and agriculture industries are notorious for their inhumane work conditions. So we have ensured all the Linen we use has been ethically sourced and all the workers along the supply chain were well treated. All our Linen has received a certification from EUROPEAN FLAX™ to endorse this.
